Hello! Ya'at'eeh!
My name is Mialynn Jim. I am a chemistry master's student and RISE fellow at Northern Arizona University (NAU). I am originally from Tuba City, Arizona, but I have lived in Flagstaff for more than half my life. I am a non-traditional student in the sense that I have worked for many, many years while going to school at the same time. I recently graduated from NAU in the fall of 2021 with a bachelor of science in chemistry and a minor in biology. My interest in chemistry first originated from my high school chemistry teacher, Dr. Agnes Wu. After high school, I worked in a medical laboratory, at a drug testing laboratory, and in a manufacturing setting where I experienced the many different ways a chemistry degree can be applied. I appreciated chemistry because it bridged my two favorite subjects, math and science. Ultimately, I wanted to be a scientist and/or work in a laboratory setting. In 2019, I had the opportunity to join Dr. Jani Ingram's analytical chemistry research lab at NAU and it has been integral in my learning. I enjoy applying, developing, and refining my skills in the chemistry lab and classroom, and I can't wait to get back out in the work force! |
